OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Paula Lewis, the current Chair of the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education, is officially seeking re-election. A dedicated advocate for public education and mental health, Lewis has spent the past eight years leading with passion and purpose, working to ensure every child in Oklahoma City has access to the quality education they deserve.
“As a proud product of public schools and a mother of an OKCPS student who understands the challenges many of our students face, I am more committed than ever to continuing the work we've started,” said Lewis. “Our public schools are under attack, but I firmly believe that together, we can protect them, secure the resources our schools need and ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.”
Her experience navigating the education system and role as co-owner of Quest Pediatric Therapy shaped her commitment to creating trauma-informed, student-centered policies. Lewis’s leadership has been instrumental in implementing key initiatives like Embrace OKC, which focuses on student mental wellness support, and the 2022 Bond, which will improve school facilities and resources.
As Chair of the OKCPS Board of Education, Lewis has championed inclusion and non-discrimination policies, ensuring Oklahoma City’s diverse student body—representing over 70 languages—has the resources and support they need to thrive. Under her leadership, OKCPS has made strides in mental health support, tackling absenteeism, and providing a stable foundation for the district’s future success.
“Our work is not done,” added Lewis. “I’m running for re-election to ensure we continue our progress. I’m committed to working alongside Dr. Polk to address chronic absenteeism and ensure our students are present, engaged, and excited about learning.”
With a vision rooted in systems-based leadership, Lewis’s re-election campaign is focused on addressing the challenges facing OKCPS and maintaining the momentum of recent successes. Her experience, leadership and unwavering commitment to Oklahoma City’s students make her the right choice to continue leading the district forward.
